Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Area Manager and Care Manager the incumbent provides direct, indirect and non-patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. The Therapy Assistant works collaboratively with members of the Integrated Home Care program, supporting client care for clients living in the community. There is also an expectation to be a mobile worker. This role requires travel within the city of Calgary including caring for clients in their homes or in the community. Possession of a valid drivers’ license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work related purposes is a requirement of this position. You will be responsible to carry and move equipment, use and operate a laptop computer and mobile phone, and for manual handling (lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling) as a regular part of the job. Learning resources and training are provided to safely perform work.Description:As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision. Minimum of two years relevant experience in a rehabilitation setting current experience with one year in a community based setting Team player who collaborates and communicates effectively with the members of the interdisciplinary consultative team. Strong organization, leadership and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to problem solve and seeks advice when appropriate. Ability to respond to constructive feedback in a positive manner. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Ability to take direction from multiple sources and set priorities and organize work assignments. Must have demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a patient-centered and interdisciplinary team environment. Must demonstrate an ability to work independently within a continually changing health care environment. Must demonstrate an ability to work independently and have strong leadership skills. Effective time management skills and demonstrated initiative..Preferred Qualifications: Membership in an organization such as Registered with the Therapy Assistant Association of Alberta, Speech-Language and Audiology. Canada or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Basic computer skills. Recent experience in a community based setting, Home Care experience preferred.
