Finally, WFP works with smallholder farmers and links them to markets.As Uganda strives to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and become a middle-income country by 2040, WFP is also assessing its relevance and repositioning its role in Uganda.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXTThe World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position (Agricultural Market Support) under the WFP Uganda, Gulu Field Office. The position will be based in Gulu, Uganda The Internship will be for an initial period of six (6) months.JOB PURPOSEThe Intern will provide monitoring and support in the implementation and supervision of all Food Systems, Livelihoods and Asset Creation activities under the Gulu field office.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)Monitor the overall number and status of smallholder farmers in the project in liaison with the CPsLiaise with partners that are to financial institution to establish farmers access micro-financing support for increased production and the effectiveness of this linkages.Ensure all data related to postharvest equipment or training is collected and analyzed for decision makingIn close coordination with Field Office staff and partners, visit smallholder farmers sites to verify progress and provide advice as required.Assist in carrying out routine field visits to the targeted districts to support Field Offices on programmatic and operational issues in the implementation of AMS project/programmeSupport in identifying and building strategic partnership with relevant stakeholders such as the private sector, input dealers, research institutions and relevant market linkages for small holder farmers.Assist in the data collection using standards and indicators needed to measure and analyze programme performance, trends and target interventionsUndertake field visits as required to assess the Food System activity processes, facilitation and technical soundness of the AMS operation and generate data for evidence-based decisions at the sub office/Area office-levelsContribute to the periodic/monthly reports (offer support in the preparation of monthly reports and submit material for preparation of periodic project monitoring reportsSTANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRecent graduate (2019 – 2023) with a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or  in a related fieldProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);Fluent in English (Oral and written)DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS28th January 2022All employment decisions are made on the basis of organizational needs, job requirements, merit, and individual qualifications.
